Regional Situation: Influenza activity declined further across the Americas this week, whereas RSV circulation continued its upward trajectory. SARS-CoV-2 activity remains low and stable compared to previous epidemiological weeks (EWs). In North America, influenza activity continues at interseasonal levels. In the Caribbean, the previously reported increase in influenza circulation has stabilized, with a positivity rate of 10.7%. A(H1N1)pdm09 continues to be the predominant subtype. RSV activity remains low and stable in North America, while in the Caribbean, it reached a positivity rate of 10.3% following important increases over the past two EWs. SARS-CoV-2 activity has stabilized in North America and declined in the Caribbean, where positivity reached 11.1%. In Central America, influenza activity remains elevated with a positivity rate of 17. 5% but has continued to decline over the past weeks. RSV activity increased compared to the previous week but remains low, while SARS-CoV-2 circulation continues to increase. In the Andean subregion, influenza A increased compared to the previous week, with a positivity rate of 12.0%. RSV activity also increased, reaching a positivity rate of 10.1%, while SARS-CoV-2 circulation remains low and stable. In Brazil and the Southern Cone, influenza activity remains elevated, but the observed declining trend persists, with a positivity rate of 11.4%. RSV circulation remains increasing but low with a positivity rate of 5.9%, while SARS-CoV-2 activity continues at low interseasonal levels. Across all subregions, an increase in the circulation of other respiratory viruses (ORV) has been observed, with an overall positivity rate of 8.8%, primarily driven by rhinovirus activity. |
