Regional Update, Influenza and Other Respiratory Viruses. Epidemiological Week 27 (17 July 2026)

[WEEKLY SUMMARY]. Regional Situation: Respiratory virus activity remained heterogeneous across the Region of the Americas. Influenza activity was at interseasonal levels in North America but remained elevated or increased in parts of Central America, the Andean subregion, and the Southern Cone. Influenza A(H3N2) predominated in several countries, while influenza B predominated in the Caribbean and Brazil. RSV activity remained elevated or increased in parts of Central America, the Andean subregion, and the Southern Cone, particularly in Nicaragua, Panama, Ecuador, Brazil, and Uruguay. SARS-CoV-2 activity remained generally low but increased in the Caribbean and in several countries, with notable increases in Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and Guyana. Overall, ILI and SARI activity remained low or declining in several subregions, although continued monitoring is warranted given localized increases in influenza, RSV, and SARS-CoV-2 circulation.
