The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed 44 cases of WNV infection and one death. The cases were recorded in the states of Alabama (6), Colorado (4), Florida (4), Iowa (1), Louisiana (10), Minnesota (1), Mississippi (1), Ohio (1), South Carolina (1), South Dakota (4), and Texas (11).
