Objectives of the webinar
- Present the development process of the CureAll Americas regional monitoring and evaluation framework and the prioritized indicators for tracking progress in childhood cancer.
- Officially launch the Regional Childhood Cancer Observatory and demonstrate its key functionalities and potential to support monitoring, planning, and decision-making.
- Share the experience and lessons learned from collaborative work with participating countries during the initial phase of data collection, review, harmonization, and validation.
- Promote regional and international dialogue regarding the challenges and opportunities for strengthening information systems, monitoring, and evaluation related to childhood cancer.
- Foster the progressive participation of countries in the Americas in the Observatory and strengthen collaboration among governments, international organizations, scientific societies, regional integration mechanisms, and other strategic partners.

Context
Childhood cancer is a public health priority requiring sustained action to improve the survival and quality of life of children and adolescents with cancer. In 2018, the World Health Organization (WHO), with the support of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, launched the Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer (GICC) with the goal of achieving at least 60% survival for all children and adolescents with cancer by 2030 and reducing the suffering associated with the disease. In the Region of the Americas, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), together with Member States and strategic partners, is driving the implementation of the Initiative through the CureAll framework.
As countries advance in implementing policies, programs, and interventions for childhood cancer control, access to reliable, harmonized, and timely information is essential for monitoring progress, identifying gaps, and guiding decision-making. In response to this need, PAHO, in collaboration with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and other strategic partners, has developed a regional monitoring and evaluation framework based on prioritized indicators aligned with the CureAll pillars and enablers.
As part of "Golden September" 2026, this webinar will mark the launch of the Regional Childhood Cancer Observatory and provide a forum for dialogue on the role of monitoring and evaluation in advancing childhood cancer care. It will also bring together representatives from international organizations, scientific societies, regional integration mechanisms, and strategic partners to share perspectives and experiences on using data to drive action, strengthen collaboration, and move toward more equitable, high-quality care for all children and adolescents with cancer.
