CIPCIZA intersectoral recommendations for surveillance in wildlife, domestic animals, and humans
Report cover

This webinar presented the regional report developed by the Intersectoral Commission for the Prevention and Control of Zoonotic Influenza in the Americas (CIPCIZA), established to strengthen collaboration among the public health, animal health, and environmental sectors. The Commission has worked to identify key strengths, challenges, and opportunities to improve preparedness and response to zoonotic threats, particularly highly pathogenic avian influenza A(H5N1).

In October 2024, an expert meeting was held at PAHO Headquarters in Washington, D.C., which enabled the consolidation of CIPCIZA’s ad hoc technical working groups in the areas of surveillance, risk assessment, and laboratories. This initiative aims to strengthen intersectoral collaboration and to generate evidence-based recommendations for the prevention and control of zoonotic influenza and other emerging threats.

As a result of this joint effort, a regional report of recommendations was developed to guide national actions and strengthen coordination across sectors for the effective implementation of the One Health approach.
