The Pan American Health Organization, in collaboration with UNFPA, invites you to participate in the launch of the Virtual Course on Clinical Management of Sexual Violence and Partner Violence (available only in Spanish), to be held on Tuesday, 18 October 2022, 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (EDT).
The health sector has a key role in responding to violence against women and mitigating its consequences on their health and lives, and that of their families and communities. Health services are often the first professional point of contact for survivors, offering critical care, information and support. They also act as a gateway to other essential support services, including social, protection and legal services. However, integral, comprehensive, and quality care is only possible if health workers have the necessary information, skills and competencies to identify signs and symptoms of violence and provide an adequate, timely, and respectful response to survivors, guaranteeing their fundamental rights. This virtual course offers an opportunity to strengthen the capacity of health workers to respond to women survivors of violence.
