This online and free course is organized by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), the Global Consortium on Climate and Health Education (GCCHE) of the University of Columbia, the World Health Organization (WHO), the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), EarthMedic and EarthNurse Foundation for Planetary Health, International Institute for Global Health, United Nations University, and Health Canada.
Context and themes
The objective of this course is to strengthen the capacities of health professionals, decision-makers of national, regional and local health systems, hospital managers, emergency and disaster coordinators, sustainability managers, public health officials and professionals from other areas and disciplines of the health sector, with knowledge and tools that facilitate scaling up efforts in adaptation, mitigation and resilience of health systems.
This course is free of charge, consists of 11 sessions and focuses on the following aspects:
- Development of priority actions to protect health and health systems in a context with a more severe climate regime.
- Assessing how to use existing guidelines on the climate change and health nexus to rapidly advance actions and best practices that promote equity and inclusion in health.
- Identification of key partnerships to advance efforts to protect health, build climate resilience, and implement measures to enable low-carbon health systems to function.
