The treatment and disposal of electronic waste is a growing problem in the region of the Americas due to contamination by toxic elements present in electrical and electronic devices, generating occupational and environmental exposures from which adverse health conditions are derived.

Human T-cell lymphotropic virus (HTLV) infection affects vulnerable population groups including key population groups, people living in poverty in areas of very low HDI, and epidemiologically semi-closed population groups such as indigenous peoples.
