Between 7% and 10% of the global population experiences some degree of difficulty in communicating effectively, impacting their ability to learn and participate in work, social, and community life.

According to the WHO Global Report on Assistive Technology, the use of communication assistive products—such as smartphone apps, communication cards, or books—could benefit around 4.5% of the population in some countries.

However, many people with communication challenges live in lower-income countries, where there is a shortage of professionals who can help enhance their communication skills.
