On April 13, The United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) reported four fires in the state of New Mexico: The Big Hole Fire in Valencia; the Hermits Peak Fire in San Miguel; and the McBride and Nogal Canyon Fires in Lincoln. The Big Hole Fire is 0% contained and has burned 904 acres. The fire has destroyed 1 house, 18 non-residential commercial/other minor structures, and has injured 1 person. The Hermits Peak fire has burned 7,900 acres and is 10% contained and has prompted the mandatory evacuation of 950 residents. Due to this fire 600 houses are being threatened. The McBride Fire has burned 4,312 acres, is 0% contained, and 500 people have been evacuated. There are 1,000 houses that are being threatened and 200 houses have been destroyed. The Nogal Canyon is also 0% contained and has burned 400 acres and has required the mandatory evacuation of 200 people. There are 50 houses that are being threatened and 10 houses have been destroyed. There are currently 10 large fires that are burning uncontrolled in New Mexico; critical fire weather conditions and Red Flag Warnings will continue. The report is available at: FEMA.
