Peru (Update)

On 11 April 2023, the Peru Civil Protection (INDECI per its acronym in Spanish), published updated information on the heavy rains affecting the departments of Amazonas, Áncash, Huancavelica, La Libertad, Piura, and Tumbes. 

  • In the department of Amazonas, there were 6,070 people affected. There were 714 homes affected and 333 destroyed; 5 health care facilities were affected and 1 was destroyed. 
  • In the department of Áncash, there were 11,742 people affected (an increase of 2,429 since the 5 April report). There were 3,938 homes affected (928 increase) and 598 were destroyed (292 increase). 
  • In the department of Huancavelica, there were 7,265 people affected (an increase of 3,254 since the 3 April report). There were 2,159 homes affected (724 increase) and 73 destroyed (50 increase). 
  • In the department of La Libertad, there were 15,780 people affected (an increase of 6,756 since the 10 April report) and 6 deaths reported (1 increase). There were 4,822 homes affected (1,664 increase) and 1,217 destroyed (617 increase). 
  • In the department of Piura, there were 83,419 people affected (an increase of 2,438 since the 10 April report). There were 27,282 homes affected (672 increase) and 2,430 destroyed (188 increase). Additionally, the Ministry of Health (MINSA per its acronym in Spanish) indicates 229 of the affected institutions providing health services (IPRESS per its acronym in Spanish) are operational (12 increase). 
  • In the department of Tumbes, there were 3,717 people affected (1,001 increase since the 27 March report). There were 1,504 homes affected (430 increase) and 59 destroyed (44 increase). MINSA reports 37 IPRESS are operational.
