Colombia (Update)
On 12 August 2026, a media report citing Colombia’s National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD) provided updated information on the magnitude 7.4 earthquake that affected a significant portion of the country. According to the report, the earthquake, which was recorded in San José del Palmar, Chocó, resulted in 239 deaths, 287 missing persons, and 3,755 injuries. The emergency affected 14 departments, with 24,324 people directly affected and a total of 49,214 people impacted. The latest damage assessment published by the UNGRD documented impacts in Antioquia, Bolívar, Cauca, Cundinamarca, Huila, Norte de Santander, Putumayo, Quindío, Sucre, and Tolima, among other departments. Wildfire

On 12 August 2026, a media report citing the Government of Antioquia provided information on the ongoing response to wildfires affecting the department. According to the report, four active fire fronts remained under response in the municipalities of Abejorral, Abriaquí, Bello, and Santa Fe de Antioquia. Emergency response agencies were coordinating ground operations and, in some locations, deploying aerial support to contain the fires and prevent their further spread. The Administrative Department of Disaster Risk Management of Antioquia (Dagran) reported that prevailing weather conditions favored the occurrence and spread of wildfires and increased the likelihood of strong windstorms in parts of the department.
