Guatemala (Update)

On 6 November 2023, the Guatemala National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (CONRED per its acronym in Spanish) published an update on the rainy season in the country. There have been 1,246 severe rain incidents reported nationally (62 increase since the 2 November report). At least 4,185,834 people were affected (221,376 increase), 47,944 people were attended to (2,630 increase), 21,388 people were evacuated (298 increase), and 16,409 (1,634 increase) people are considered at risk. The report is available from: CONRED

Uruguay (Update)

On 5 November 2023, the Uruguay National Emergency System published information on the heavy rains occurring in Artigas, Paysandú, and Salto, Uruguay. Currently 3,006 people have been displaced from their homes (64 increase since the 2 November report), 246 were evacuated (23 increase) and 2,760 self-evacuated (41 increase). The displaced persons geographically correspond to Paysandú (1,836 total, representing a 46 increase), Salto (991 total, representing a 18 increase), and Artigas (179 total). The report is available from: Sistema Nacional de Emergencias

Brazil

On 6 October 2023, Civil Protection of São Paulo and Paraná State, Brazil, published information on the heavy rains occurring in both states. In the state of São Paulo, 100 landslides and 7 deaths were reported, and the state and municipal Civil Protections and the Fire Department recorded more than 2,000 emergency calls in 40 municipalities. Additionally, media is reporting more than 800,000 people are without power in the state of São Paulo. In the state of Paraná, Civil Protection reported that between 26 October 2023 and 6 November 2023, there were 138 municipalities and 110,866 people affected and 6,129 people are displaced. The reports are available from: Defesa Civil do Estado de São PauloCNN, and Defesa Civil do Estado do Paraná
