Strengthening cooperation with the Netherlands

The Deputy Director of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Isabella Danel, on Tuesday received a delegation from the Netherlands made up of Marianne Donker, Deputy Director-General of Public Health in the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport; Herbert P. Barnard, Director of International Affairs at the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport and member of WHO's Executive Board; and Regine Aalders, Health Attaché of the Netherlands Embassy in Washington, D.C.

Washington D.C., 15 April 2016 (PAHO/WHO) — The Deputy Director of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Isabella Danel, on Tuesday received a delegation from the Netherlands made up of Marianne Donker, Deputy Director-General of Public Health in the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport; Herbert P. Barnard, Director of International Affairs at the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport and member of WHO's Executive Board; and Regine Aalders, Health Attaché of the Netherlands Embassy in Washington, D.C.

During the meeting, the delegations discussed ways to strengthen cooperation, particularly on initiatives related to the International Health Regulations, antimicrobial resistance, the response to Zika virus in the Americas, WHO emergency reform and the Special Session of the UN General Assembly on the world drug problem.

Also participating in the meeting was Alberto Kleiman, Director of External Relations, Partnerships and Resource Mobilization at PAHO, and representatives of PAHO technical units.
