
Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, 7 April 2025 (PAHO/WHO) - Key team members from the Ministry of Health (MOH) in Trinidad and Tobago participated in a pivotal meeting with representatives PAHO-Headquarters and the PAHO/WHO Trinidad and Tobago Country Office, focusing on the digital transformation of health systems. This session aimed to strengthen governance, enhance digital literacy, and explore innovative solutions in telehealth, artificial intelligence (AI), and cybersecurity.
The first meeting commenced with welcome and introductions, setting the stage for a day of insightful discussions. The agenda included a situation report on the approval of the Digital Health Policy and future plans. Participants developed a Technical Cooperation Roadmap aligned with the MOH’s Digital Health Policy, identifying areas for collaboration.
Mr. Marcello D' Agostino presented WHO's Global Digital Health Certification Network (GDHCN) in collaboration with the Inter American Development Bank, highlighting the importance of global digital health standards. He also outlined PAHO’s strategic approach to digital health and areas for technical cooperation.
The second day focused on telehealth and AI sessions with PAHO-TTO staff. These discussions aimed to deepen understanding and implementation of telehealth and AI technologies within the PAHO system.
These meetings underscored the commitment of PAHO and the Trinidad and Tobago Ministry of Health to drive digital health transformation. The collaborative efforts during these sessions mark a significant step towards a digitally empowered health system in Trinidad and Tobago, promising a future of improved health outcomes and greater accessibility to healthcare services.
