Peruvian Experience Implementing the Shortened Oral Treatment for Multidrug-Resistant Tuberculosis
This video presents Peru’s public health efforts in adopting a shorter, fully oral regimen to treat multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB).
It highlights how Peru, a country with a longstanding TB control program, successfully transitioned to a new oral-only treatment strategy for MDR-TB, replacing older injection-based regimens. It features testimonies from healthcare professionals and patients, showing improved adherence, fewer side effects, and better quality of life.
The initiative, supported by WHO and national health authorities, demonstrates how evidence-based innovation and strong program coordination can enhance TB control and patient outcomes in Latin America.
Early Diagnosis of Childhood Cancer Saves Lives – Pay Attention to the Signs
This video is part of a campaign to raise awareness about the importance of early detection of cancer in children.
Key Themes / Messages:
- Early signs matter: Recognizing warning symptoms—such as persistent fatigue, unexplained weight loss, bone pain, fever, or unusual swelling—can lead to earlier diagnosis and better outcomes.
- Timely action saves lives: Delays in diagnosis reduce survival chances; caregivers, health workers, and communities should act quickly when signs appear.
- Support and collaboration: The video highlights efforts by PAHO, St. Jude, and partner organizations to promote awareness, support families, and strengthen health systems for early detection.
- Call to awareness: Viewers—parents, teachers, and healthcare providers—are encouraged to be vigilant and proactive: recognize red flags, seek medical consultation promptly, and advocate for timely diagnosis and treatment.

This story follows a team of rapid trachoma assessors as they travel through tropical lands—by river and on foot—reaching indigenous communities deep in the heart of Bolivia.
The Rhythm That Gives Us Life – Early Diagnosis of Childhood Cancer
Early diagnosis of childhood cancer saves lives. In pediatric cancer, timely diagnosis and treatment are key to improving survival rates. Parents, caregivers, extended families, and healthcare workers play a vital role in recognizing early warning signs.
PAHO, St. Jude Together, and Childhood Cancer International launched a Caribbean communication campaign to raise awareness about the early detection of childhood cancer symptoms.
