Childhood cancer is a leading cause of death among children and adolescents in the Region of the Americas. The following country profiles provide a summary of the childhood cancer burden and the health system's capacity to respond to it. Each profile includes selected indicators regarding the cancer situation among children and adolescents in Member States—covering data on incidence, mortality, survival, health system capacity, timely diagnosis, cancer registries, and comprehensive care—to support decision-making and the strengthening of health policies and services.
These profiles support the monitoring of progress toward achieving the key indicators of the Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer. The data presented in the profiles are derived from various sources.
