eCBB is a free mobile application developed by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and provides evidence-based information on newborn and perinatal care for families, caregivers, and health teams.

About the application

The experiences and care in the first weeks of life — as well as during pregnancy — have a profound impact on long-term health, development, and quality of life. Investing in this stage of life is one of the most effective and efficient investments a health system can make.

eCBB was designed to strengthen and articulate the care provided by families and health teams around perinatal health, bridging the gap between professional guidance and everyday caregiving. The application organizes its content around two distinct user profiles — caregivers and health teams — ensuring that information is presented with specificity and adapted to the needs and particular requirements of each audience.

What eCBB covers

Content in eCBB is organized around six main categories, presented through text, videos, infographics, images, and recommendations:

  • Breastfeeding — Guidance and support for mothers and caregivers
  • Infant care — Instructions for everyday newborn care
  • Hygiene — Safe practices for the newborn environment
  • Health promotion — Information to support healthy development
  • Growth and development — Monitoring milestones and changes
  • Frequently asked questions — Answers to common concerns from families and caregivers

The application also includes thematic labels such as vaccines, prematurity, and newborn, enabling users to quickly find information relevant to their specific situation. A built-in search engine allows fast, easy access to all content grouped by category.

Who is eCBB for?

Families and caregivers Parents, family members, and caregivers looking for reliable, evidence-based guidance on how to care for their newborn — from breastfeeding and hygiene to growth monitoring and recognizing signs that require medical attention.

Health teams Nurses, midwives, physicians, and other health personnel working in perinatal and neonatal care who need a quick, accessible reference for clinical guidance, health promotion, and patient communication.
