Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Week 2025 in the Caribbean will be celebrated from October 20 to 26. This year's theme is “Let's end child pregnancy.”
Every year, thousands of girls aged 10 to 14 in Latin America and the Caribbean face pregnancies that put their health, education, and future at risk. Childhood motherhood is not always a choice: it is often the result of sexual violence or early marriages and unions. Pregnancy in girls younger than 15 years has profound consequences. These girls are at higher risk of complications and maternal death, as well as premature births and low birth weight in newborns. Socially and economically, very early pregnancy limits their opportunities to continue get an education and perpetuates cycles of poverty and inequality.
The 2025 Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Week reminds us that every girl deserves to fully live her childhood, with safety, opportunities, and guaranteed rights.
