Over the last decade, major outbreaks such as those relating to Ebola virus disease and Middle East respiratory syndrome, and more recently the Sudan virus disease outbreak in Uganda and the pandemic of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), have demonstrated how outbreaks can both spread rapidly through the community and be significantly amplified in health care settings. |
