Regional Situation: Overall, influenza activity across the Americas continues to decline, although more gradually in recent weeks as it approaches interseasonal levels. RSV circulation slightly increased compared to previous weeks, while SARS-CoV-2 activity remains low, having stabilized after a gradual decline in prior weeks. In North America and the Caribbean, influenza activity continues to decline, driven by reductions in influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 and influenza A not subtyped. RSV activity remains low and stable at interseasonal levels, with a positivity rate of 1.1%. SARS-CoV-2 activity remains low in North America, while in the Caribbean, a steady increase has been observed over the past four epidemiological weeks (EWs), with a positivity rate of 12.3%. In Central America, influenza circulation remains elevated, with a positivity rate of 25.4%. RSV activity stabilized over the past two EWs at a positivity rate of 3.7%, while SARS-CoV-2 circulation remains low. In the Andean subregion, influenza A activity has shown a steady decline in the positivity rate over the past two EWs (13.0%). RSV circulation also continues to decrease, with a current positivity rate of 9.2%. SARS-CoV-2 activity remains low and stable. In Brazil and the Southern Cone, influenza activity remains high but has declined over the past two EWs, primarily driven by reduced circulation of influenza A(H1N1)pdm09, with a positivity rate of 16.3%. RSV activity remains stable at relatively low levels (3.0%), and SARS-CoV-2 activity remains low at interseasonal levels. Across the regions, an upward trend in the activity of other respiratory viruses has been observed, with a positivity rate of 4.1% driven mainly by rhinovirus, particularly in North America and the Brazil/Southern Cone subregion. |
