In the Region of the Americas, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) contributes significantly to the burden of respiratory disease, accounting for a high number of hospitalizations, particularly among infants younger than 2 years of age. This publication provides comprehensive, evidence-based recommendations for the use of the maternal RSVpreF vaccine and long-acting monoclonal antibodies to prevent RSV disease in infants and young children. Developed by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) with contributions from regional and global experts, the publication compiles available data on product characteristics, efficacy, effectiveness, and safety, and provides current recommendations of use and specific guidance for implementation. It is intended to serve as a practical guide for decision-makers, national public health officials and managers of immunization programs, and immunization advisory group and health professionals who work in maternal–perinatal health and immunization services at all levels of the healthcare system across the Region of the Americas. |
