Cervical Cancer Elimination Dashboard

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) Cervical Cancer Dashboard aims to monitor progress towards the WHO elimination targets to be met by Member States by 2030: vaccinating 90% of girls by age 15, 70% screening women with high-performance tests by age 35 and again by age 45, and treating 90% of precancerous and cancerous cases.

Brief instructions for a better user experience

This interactive dashboard includes a menu on the left side that allows users to navigate throughout the pillars of the Cervical Cancer Elimination Initiative and their specific contents. Some visual forms comprise filters and selectors located beneath the title, allowing users to select indicators or analytic dimensions to show the data.

When the cursor is hovered over any component of a visual form, additional detailed information is displayed in a tooltip.

Readers can download a PDF file, an image, or a PowerPoint file of the display by clicking on the Download button located at the bottom-right side of the profile.

Definition

The percentage of females who received the first dose of the HPV vaccine in the reporting year, expressed as a percentage.

Estimation method

These data represent administrative and official Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination coverage reported annually through the WHO/UNICEF Joint Reporting Form on Immunization (JRF).

The WHO methodology to estimate HPV vaccine coverage has been reviewed by the Immunization and Vaccine related Implementation Research Advisory Committee (‎IVIR-AC)‎ in March 2019.
The methodology is described in further detail in the following article:
Bruni et al. HPV vaccination introduction worldwide and WHO and UNICEF estimates of national HPV immunization coverage 2010–2019. Preventive Medicine 2021; 144.  DOI: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ypmed.2020.106399
