BVI MHPSS Webinar Series: Basic Psychosocial Skills for Shelter Managers - August 13
Basic Psychosocial Skills for Shelter Managers

Dear colleagues,

We kindly invite you to participate in the webinar
"Basic Psychosocial Skills for Shelter Managers" on Thursday, August 13th, as part of the MHPSS/COVID-19 webinar series, organized by the Government of the Virgin Islands and the Mental Health Unit at the Department of Noncommunicable Diseases and Mental Health of the Pan American Health Organization.

Shelter managers and staff in BVI play a crucial role during hurricane season, especially as people now face the double burden of preparing for hurricanes and coping with the stressful impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. These managers must be prepared to support shelterees who are feeling stressed, know when to seek additional help from specialized service providers, and know how to maintain their own health and psychological well-being in these challenging times. In this webinar, participants will receive guidance on supportive communication, how to offer practical support, helping people who are experiencing stress, providing support to vulnerable populations, and self-care.
