BVI MHPSS Webinar Series: Supporting parents during COVID-19 - September 17th
BVI webinar 17 september

We kindly invite you to participate in the webinar "Supporting parents during COVID-19" on Thursday, September 17th, as part of the MHPSS/COVID-19 webinar series, organized by the Government of the Virgin Islands and the Mental Health Unit at the Department of Noncommunicable Diseases and Mental Health of the Pan American Health Organization.

Parenting is an incredibly rewarding, but demanding job. During the COVID-19 pandemic, parents may now find themselves balancing working from home, parenting, and providing at-home learning to their children. With all of these daily responsibilities, and the additional worries of keeping their families safe during a global pandemic, it is no wonder why parents may be experiencing more stress and uncertainty now, while also struggling to find the time to take care of themselves. As parents, we can follow the advice of flight attendants, who always tell passengers to place oxygen masks over their own mouths and noses before assisting others.

This webinar on supporting parents during COVID-19 will explore what parenting looks like during a pandemic, basic coping strategies parents can use, and how parents can balance their parenting roles with other responsibilities and anxiety during this pandemic. It will highlight  mindfulness, with practical applications to help people oxygenate to help themselves as they help their children.
