To commemorate and celebrate the International Workers' Health Day 2025, the Department of Social and Environmental Determinants for Health Equity (DHE), through the Health Promotion and Social Determinants of Health Unit (DHE/HP), is organizing a webinar to make visible the challenges faced by digital platform workers in terms of health, safety and social protection, and promote multisectoral lines of action from public health, decent work and equity.
The following panelists will be in the debate:
- Gerry Eijkemans - Director, Department of Social and Environmental Determinants for Health Equity (DHE). Welcome remarks
- Orielle Solar - Unit Chief of the Health Promotion and Social Determinants of Health (DHE/HP), as moderator
- Tulio Cravo - Regional Public Policy and Productivity Specialist at the ILO, panelist.
- Manuel Valenzuela - Professor and researcher in the Work, Employment, Equity and Health Program at FLACSO Chile, panelist
- Angelica Salgado - Union leader. Secretary of New Forms of Work of the CUT, Chile, panelist
With this webinar, PAHO aims to contribute to the analysis and visibility of these challenges and promote an intersectoral dialogue that articulates perspectives from the health, labor, social protection and social organizations sectors. Promoting the workers’ health platform is not only a matter of justice and human rights, but also a public health imperative in the face of the new forms of inequality and precariousness that characterize the contemporary world of work.
