On the 31st of October 2023, the World Health Organization (WHO) recognized the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory, located in Bridgetown, Barbados, as a National Influenza Centre, and as a member of the WHO Global Influenza Surveillance and Response System (GISRS).
