Respectful maternal and neonatal treatment it is not only one of the essential components to improve perinatal health outcomes, but it is also key to a positive pregnancy and childbirth. It is an approach that encompasses both ethical and fundamental rights issues for women and newborns, such as dignity and autonomy regarding their decisions and preferences.

The Latin American Center for Perinatology, Women's and Reproductive Health (CLAP/WR) launches a course that seeks to raise awareness about concepts and practices related to respectful maternal and neonatal care; it addresses the legal frameworks that support it and provides some tools to plan, implement and monitor initiatives to improve the quality of maternal and neonatal care in health services.
