Malaria Day in the Americas 2026: Zero malaria in the Americas

Context

In the context of Malaria Day in the Americas 2026, under the theme “Zero Malaria in the Americas,” the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) will host a regional event on November 6—broadcast live from Brasília, Brazil—to highlight progress, challenges, and opportunities for accelerating the elimination of malaria in the Region.

The event will take place at the conclusion of the Regional Meeting on Malaria Elimination in the Americas, which will bring together country representatives, experts, and strategic partners from November 4 to 6. The meeting will serve as a forum to exchange experiences, address solutions to gaps in access to diagnosis and treatment, and explore new tools and innovations. The meeting will be guided by the changes and actions promoted in the Plan of Action for Malaria Elimination 2026–2030, which will steer regional efforts toward eliminating the disease.

During the commemoration, key findings from the regional meeting will be shared, alongside perspectives from stakeholders on the ground and messages from country participants in Brasília. These contributions will reaffirm the importance of political commitment, collaboration, and local action in achieving the goal of zero malaria in the Americas.

Date: Friday, November 6, 2026
Time: 02:00 p.m. - 03:30 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time)

The event will also be broadcast live, in the original language of the presentations, via the PAHO YouTube channel.
