Context
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is one of the major threats to human, animal, and environmental health, compromising our ability to prevent and treat infections and putting at risk the progress achieved by health systems. AMR is a complex phenomenon driven by multiple factors that extend beyond the clinical setting and require a comprehensive response under the One Health approach.
At the same time, the emergence and spread of new resistance mechanisms in Gram-negative bacteria represent a growing challenge for surveillance, infection prevention and control programs, as well as for therapeutic decision-making. The limited availability of effective treatment options underscores the need to strengthen diagnostic capacity, microbiological surveillance, and the appropriate use of antimicrobials.
This webinar will bring together experts from different disciplines to reflect on AMR as an interconnected challenge affecting people, animals, and the planet; review emerging trends in bacterial resistance; and discuss the role of artificial intelligence as an innovative tool to strengthen global and regional responses to this threat.
