Universal health coverage reiterates and reinforces the commitment of PAHO/WHO to Universal Health in the Region of the Americas. The key to achieving this is to ensure that everyone can get the care they need, when they need it, at the heart of the community.
Millions of people still do not have access to medical care. Millions more are forced to choose between health care and other daily expenses such as food, clothing and even a home.
For this reason, PAHO/WHO calls on governments, decision-makers and civil society to advocate for comprehensive, inclusive health systems that focus on individuals and communities.
