Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, 3 May 2023 (PAHO) - Vaccination Week in the Americas (VWA) was recognized from April 22 to 30, 2023 and the week of activities began with two church services.

The first service was hosted at the Mesopotamia SDA Church on April 22nd and the second service was held at Kingstown Baptist Church on April 23rd.

A symposium was hosted the following day for pre-school educators, at the Methodist Church in Kingstown. The discussion was the importance of vaccination to raise awareness among pre-school teachers.

On April 26th, the Leeward Vaccination Awareness Caravan visited communities to encourage the public to get up to date with vaccines. The public awareness activity was continued the following day by the Winward Vaccination Awareness Caravan and that day, there was also a Health Fair hosted in the Levi Latham Health Complex car park.

April 28th presented the public with an opportunity to attend the Vaccination Awareness Concert, a March, and Rally, in Heritage Square. Dramatic presentations – a combination of drama, choruses accompanied by drums and dance – were presented at the outdoor venue. The message was clear – do not to be confused or left behind but get up to date with vaccinations.

The week’s activities concluded with a Health Fair at the Tarmac, providing another opportunity for persons to obtain health materials and get vaccinated.
