Digitizing Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) systems is not just about technology. Behind every process, there are people who need new tools and skills to adapt to this transformation.
In practice, this means supporting those working in the health sector, civil registries, vital statistics offices, and other related areas so they can navigate digital environments, share information, and work with data in a more integrated way.
There is a particularly sensitive point: the correct completion of birth and death certificates. Strengthening the capacities of health professionals in this process—especially in identifying the sequence of causes and selecting the underlying cause of death—is key to improving data quality.
At the same time, the introduction of ICD-11 brings new challenges for coding teams. It is not only about learning a new classification, but also about integrating tools that make the process easier and help improve data quality, such as IRIS or DORIS.
Below, you will find the available activities to continue building these capacities.
