Leishmaniasis: Epidemiological report on the Region of the Americas. No. 14, December 2025

The data on cutaneous leishmaniasis and visceral leishmaniasis for 2024 continue to demonstrate a trend of reduction in cases. However, the increase in the VL case fatality rate and the proportion of cases of co-infection of VL and the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is verified. This report presents the main results of the data for 2024, highlighting that, for the first time, countries entered the data individually, enabling a more detailed analysis that enables automated monitoring of the goals and performance indicators of the Leishmaniasis Action Plan of the Americas 2023-2030, as well as the Roadmap for Neglected Tropical Diseases of the World Health Organization (WHO). In addition, it contains an analysis of VL-HIV co-infection and deaths caused by VL or other associated causes in the Region of the Americas, so we invite you to explore more this information.
