Natural and human-caused disasters, climate change-related events, and pandemics cause damage that disrupts the provision of essential hospital services to the population when they are most needed. Efficient operations must therefore be restored as soon as possible. The objective of this publication is to provide a tool for assessing the damage to structural and nonstructural components of hospitals affected by a disaster or health emergency. In particular, the tool indicates the priority repairs required to resume activities, outlines the rehabilitation measures necessary to ensure the safety of staff and users, and facilitates planning for investment in recovery activities.
