This webinar aims to contribute to the strengthening of a comprehensive multi-sectoral response to young people during the pandemic and in the recovery phase with the goal to reduce the short-, medium-, and long-term consequences of COVID-19 for young people in the Americas, particularly those living in conditions of vulnerability.

The document summarizes relevant guidance from the World Health Organization (WHO) and PAHO, as well as recommendations from other United Nations partners such as the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and UNICEF. It also provides links to related resources and practical examples of actions taken by governments, youth leaders, and other stakeholders. This publication covers the age group of young people aged 10–24 years, which encompasses adolescents aged 10–19 years and youth aged 15–24 years.

Objectives:

  • To review the direct and indirect consequences of COVID-19 on young people in the Americas and their implications
  • To share current recommendations to effectively address these consequences during the pandemic and in the recovery phase.
