Background

Health technology assessment (HTA) is a multidisciplinary process that allows the value of a technology to be determined through explicit methods and transparent criteria, providing solid evidence to inform decisions in health systems that face multiple challenges, such as the availability of new innovations and limited resources. In this context, having technical capacities and explicit prioritization frameworks is essential for institutions to select which technologies will be evaluated and incorporated and under what criteria, thus contributing to clearer, more equitable and efficient processes.

Given that the demand for technologies that seek to be incorporated into health systems often exceeds the availability of human resources for their evaluation, the implementation of explicit prioritization processes  becomes a strategic necessity to guarantee institutional efficiency and equity in access. Prioritizing health technologies allows limited financial resources to be properly managed, favoring the adoption of interventions that provide greater clinical value, safety and efficiency, optimizing budgets and strengthening evidence-based decision-making.

About the Webinar

The webinar aims to understand the importance of prioritizing both evaluations and the incorporation of health technologies into health systems, as well as to publicize the different successful experiences of prioritization in our region to strengthen health decision-making processes.
