The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) plays a key role in promoting and strengthening telehealth in the Americas. Through its technical cooperation, it supports the implementation of digital solutions such as the all-in-one platform and provides specialized guidance to strengthen health information systems, with a particular focus on primary health care.
PAHO has developed a range of tools and resources, including guidelines, technical documents, and maturity assessment tools, to support countries in assessing their readiness for telehealth, training the health workforce, and implementing telemedicine services. PAHO promotes the development of interoperable health information systems, enabling more seamless and efficient communication among different actors in the health system and facilitating the delivery of telehealth services.
Through training programs and technical cooperation, PAHO contributes to strengthening countries’ capacities to design, implement, and evaluate telehealth programs, ensuring their long-term sustainability and working to guarantee that the benefits of telehealth are accessible to all populations, including those living in remote areas or with fewer resources.
