KHMHA receives additional defibrillators from PAHO/WHO Belize and the Government of Canada to strengthen management of COVID-19 cases

Defibrillators handover to the KHMHA in Belize from PAHO/WHO and Government of Canada

Belize City, Belize, January 20, 2022 (PAHO) – Today, the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), through funding from the Government of Canada and WHO Pooled Award for COVID-19 Response, donated three defibrillators to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital Authority (KHMHA). The donation also included reusable probes and defibrillation pads for both adult and pediatric care along with a battery charger and carrying case for the devices. The defibrillators will contribute to the strengthening of the management of COVID-19 cases in Belize especially cases where persons are experiencing cardiac problems or with underlying cardiovascular disease.    

PAHO/WHO Representative in Belize, Dr. Noreen Jack, and Liaison Officer for Development of the Honorary Consul of Canada, Mrs. Karen Michael-Pook, both handed over the equipment to the Chief Executive Officer of the KHMHA, Mrs. Chandra N. Cansino. Also, in attendance, was Dr. Adrian Coye and Mr. Timothy Seguro of the KHMHA.
