The Pan American Conferences for Drug Regulatory Harmonization are a continental forum dedicated to promoting the harmonization of pharmaceutical regulation. They bring together all medicines regulatory authorities in the Region, representatives of economic integration bodies—such as CARICOM, MERCOSUR, NAFTA, ALADI, and the Andean Community—as well as representatives from the pharmaceutical industry, the academic sector, professional associations, and other interested stakeholders.
These conferences make it possible to share progress and decisions related to pharmaceutical harmonization, as well as to disseminate regulatory decisions stemming from global initiatives such as the International Conference of Drug Regulatory Authorities (ICDRA) and the International Council for Harmonisation (ICH), of which the PARF Network is a part through the Global Cooperation Group.
They also encourage the participation of countries in the Region that are not yet members of subregional blocs and contribute to strengthening harmonization processes through the analysis of priority topics and the adoption of common recommendations and guidelines for the entire Region.
