The Scientific Intelligence for Impact Program, within PAHO's Science and Knowledge for Impact Unit, promotes principles, standards of good practice, and a culture of innovation to strengthen scientific capacities, improve research quality, and ensure its effective application to the development, adaptation, and adoption of health interventions, programs, and policies that benefit the populations of the Americas.
Its goal is to drive research and development (R&D) in strategic areas such as human genomics, clinical trials, and artificial intelligence applied to science, ensuring that Member States can leverage the best scientific evidence and innovation to advance their health goals and improve population well-being.
The program works to promote research on new therapies, diagnostics, vaccines, and interventions in health systems and services, strengthening regulatory and ethical capacities while fostering greater efficiency within the scientific ecosystem. It also encourages investment, scientific collaboration, and the creation of a dynamic ecosystem that attracts talent and enables the research community to focus on high-impact discoveries.
