After 15 years of implementing the Policy on Research for Health, the Region of the Americas has built a stronger foundation for generating and using scientific evidence to support health decision-making. Lessons learned, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, confirmed that research is a strategic asset for responding to health emergencies, strengthening health systems, and delivering social and economic benefits. The report emphasizes the need to increase investment in science and innovation, strengthen research capacity, promote larger and more collaborative clinical studies, and improve ethical and regulatory governance. It also highlights the importance of ensuring that research findings are translated into evidence-informed policies and practices that improve health outcomes and advance equity across the Region. |
