Series of certifiable webinars: strengthening comprehensive care for NCDs

patients and doctors

Washington, D.C., August 27, 2025 - The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), through the Better Care for Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs) Initiative and in conjunction with the Virtual Campus for Public Health (VCPH), is launching a new series of free, certified webinars aimed at strengthening the capacities of interprofessional health teams in comprehensive NCD care.

The series will consist of five virtual seminars addressing key topics, including the use of evidence-based tools for NCD care, the impact of social determinants on NCD management, health promotion and social participation with an equity focus, and the treatment of specific risk factors such as physical inactivity, poor diet, and smoking.

Each session will last 90 minutes and can be viewed both synchronously and asynchronously in the VCPH virtual classroom in Spanish, English, and Portuguese.

Participation in the series will include mandatory assessments for each seminar, consisting of multiple-choice questionnaires, problem-situation analyses, or surveys, accompanied by a specific bibliography for each topic. Participants who complete all five seminars and pass all assessments will receive an official certification from the Virtual Campus for Public Health, totaling 10 hours of training.

Among the main objectives of the series is to directly contribute to the implementation of the Better Care for NCDs Initiative by training teams capable of leading transformative processes in their territories. With this initiative, PAHO reaffirms its commitment to improving the quality of health services and equitable access for people living with noncommunicable diseases in the Americas.
