New cycle of the Certified Webinar Series of the Digital Literacy Program on the Virtual Campus
Washington, D.C., February 12, 2026 (PAHO) – The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) launched Cycle II on Artificial Intelligence in Health, a new training initiative that is part of the Certified Webinar Series of the Digital Literacy Program, aimed at strengthening the digital capabilities of the health workforce across the Region of the Americas.
Within the framework of the PAHO Digital Literacy Program, and coordinated by the Information Systems and Digital Health Unit of the Department of Evidence and Intelligence for Action in Health, this cycle explores the strategic use of artificial intelligence in public health, addressing practical applications, ethical considerations, and its contribution to evidence-based decision-making within health systems.
Applied training for digital transformation in health
The program is delivered in a virtual, self-paced, and certifiable format, offering a learning pathway designed for health professionals, managers, technical teams, and decision-makers interested in understanding how artificial intelligence tools can contribute to:
- Optimizing health information analysis processes.
- Strengthening public policy planning.
- Improving the quality, efficiency, and timeliness of care.
- Supporting responsible models of technological innovation in health.
The contents include regional case studies, practical experiences, and conceptual frameworks that facilitate the practical application of artificial intelligence in different health contexts.

Cycle II — Artificial Intelligence in Health
Duration: 5 hours of self-paced learning
Format: Certifiable virtual course
Platform: Virtual Campus for Public Health (VCPH)
Access:
For PAHO/WHO personnel, completion of the course may be counted as part of the 80 mandatory annual training hours.
Cycle I on Artificial Intelligence
Individuals who have not yet taken Cycle I on Artificial Intelligence in Health may enroll at any time and complete it as part of the comprehensive learning pathway of the Digital Literacy Program.
Upcoming cycles of the Digital Literacy Program
In the coming months, new certified cycles will be announced in key digital health areas:
- Telehealth and Telemedicine
- Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS)
- Health Data Management
These cycles will continue strengthening key competencies to support the digital transformation of health systems across the Region of the Americas.
