Director joins Guyana’s work exhibit and personnel recognition and award ceremonies

Guyana, 26 October (PAHO) - The Director of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Dr. Carissa F. Etienne, participated in the Guyana country office work exhibit and recognition and award ceremonies. Ten PAHO personnel members received recognition for serving the Organization between 10 and 30 years.

Administrative Officer Vaulda Quamina-Griffith, who has 30 years of service, spoke on behalf of the year-of-service honorees. She thanked the Director and her team for supporting the Guyana team. Ten PAHO personnel members received recognitions for serving the Organization between 10 and 30 years.

On behalf of the awardees, Ms. Quamina-Griffith, the office administrator, thanked PAHO for recognizing its personnel and supporting the programs. "We will always be very grateful for having the opportunity to work for such an organization as ours, and we will continue to do our best in keeping the standard of PAHO, "she said.

Dr. Carissa Etienne expressed gratitude to the awardees and the wider team for the support provided to PAHO. She emphasized that country offices are the most important part of the Organization.

Dr. Etienne's term as PAHO Director ends on 31 January 2023. During her visit to Guyana and other Caribbean countries, she is meeting with personnel members and authorities, including a courtesy visit to Guyana's president Irfaan Ali.
