On Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM (Brasilia, UTC-3), BIREME/PAHO/WHO will hold the session “Artificial intelligence and thematic curation in health: new developments in the VHL and Windows of Knowledge”, as part of the program “BIREME 2026: New Releases and Updates”.

The session will present new resources and strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening the retrieval, organization, and dissemination of scientific and technical health information within the Virtual Health Library (VHL).

Among the highlights, the new AI-powered automatic indexing functionality integrated into the VHL search portal will be presented. The feature defines subjects related to retrieved documents, expanding thematic contextualization and supporting information discovery processes.

Two new Windows of Knowledge developed by BIREME in coordination with PAHO and Brazil’s Ministry of Health will also be presented: HEARTS in the Americas and Climate Change and Health. These initiatives bring together evidence, publications, tools, educational resources, and strategic content to support public policies, technical cooperation, and health decision-making.

The activity is part of BIREME’s institutional strategy to increase the visibility of new technological and methodological developments, as well as cooperative products focused on digital transformation and equitable access to health information in the Region of the Americas.
