We kindly invite you to participate in the launch of the self-learning virtual course REPLACE Trans Fat: An Action Package to Eliminate Industrially Produced Trans-Fatty Acidson Monday, 6 December 2021, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm (EST).

Background

The REPLACE package serves as a roadmap for countries to implement actions to eliminate IP-TFA by 2023 and outlines six strategic action areas (REview, Promote, Legislate, Assess, Create, Enforce) to support the prompt, complete, and sustained elimination of IP-TFA from the food supply.

To advance on the regional nutrition agenda and country capacity building on the strategies of eliminating IP-TFA from the food supply under the PAHO Plan of Action for the Elimination of Industrially Produced Trans-fatty Acids 2020-2025, PAHO has developed a multi-module course on the REPLACE package for the elimination of IP-TFAs, which is hosted by PAHO’s Virtual Campus for Public Health. In this course, participants will learn how to apply the REPLACE modules to identify and create strategic plans for the elimination of IP-TFAs in the food supply, supporting the PAHO Plan of Action.

This course is intended for Member States’ government officials, including policy-makers, food control or safety authorities involved in the design, monitoring, and evaluation relating to nutrition or food safety policies; as well as subnational government bodies that advocate for, and enforce, these policies. Other audiences include civil society organizations, academic and research institutions, nutrition scientists and laboratories, public health professionals and food systems operators.

To this end, this webinar is to launch and disseminate the self-learning virtual course on the REPLACE Trans Fat: An Action Package to Eliminate Industrially Produced Trans-Fatty Acids. We hope this is a space for discussion on the importance of the course and its contents and renew our commitment to improving the health of the Region.
