Background

Digital transformation and telehealth have been highlighted as important objectives in the Sustainable Health Agenda for the Americas 2018-2030, as well as PAHO's Strategic Plan 2020-2025 that have driven new avenues of technical cooperation through initiatives and projects such as the development of Information Systems for Health (IS4H) tools.

In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic brought with it quarantine and distancing measures that catapulted demand for telehealth services globally, driving investment in the development and implementation of digital solutions for safeguarding health and life. The generated experiences and evidence can thus be used to learn, replicate, adapt, and scale the impact of these innovations within the region.

PAHO aims through this call to continue strengthening cooperation and fostering the exchange of knowledge for the benefit of digital innovation for health in the Region of the Americas.
